Questions neighbors ask
FAQ
What exactly is a "freeze-out," and can you fix it?
A freeze-out is when extreme cold freezes parts of your heating system, like a boiler, and it stops running. It's common in sudden cold snaps and power outages. Yes, we fix it: our 24/7 team safely thaws the frozen parts, checks for damage and gets your heat back. If water pipes burst, you may also need a plumber, but we'll get your heat source back online first.
How do I know if I need a repair or a full replacement?
It depends on the system's age, the cost of the repair and how efficient it is. If it's over 15 years old, needs frequent fixes or is driving up your bills, replacing is often the smarter long-term move. On a service call, Ari inspects it, explains the pros and cons and gives you an honest, no-pressure recommendation. Try the quick check above.
Why is annual maintenance important if my system seems fine?
Like a car, your system needs regular check-ups to run safely and efficiently. A tune-up includes deep cleaning of the burners, safety inspection of the heat exchangers to prevent carbon monoxide risks, and tuning. Skipping it can mean breakdowns in the dead of winter, higher energy costs and a shorter life for your equipment.
Do you install heat pumps, and are they good for our area?
Yes. We install mini-split heat pumps, heat pump water heaters and condensers. They heat efficiently in winter and cool in summer, and can lower bills compared with older oil or electric baseboard systems. We'll tell you whether your home is a good fit.
What's involved in removing an old underground oil tank?
We handle the whole job: locating the tank, digging it out safely, removing it and disposing of it under strict environmental rules. If it leaked, we'll advise on soil testing and cleanup. It's done legally and safely so you don't have future liabilities.
How quickly can you get here for an emergency?
Losing heat in winter is an emergency, so we offer 24-hour service for repairs, freeze-outs and critical failures. Response times depend on the situation and the weather, but we prioritize getting you back to safety and warmth as fast as possible.
Can you help me switch from oil to a different heating source?
Yes, it's a common request. Whether you want a high-efficiency heat pump, natural gas (where available), propane, or a newer, cleaner oil burner, we handle the whole switch: assess your setup, remove the old tank safely and install the system that fits your home and budget.
How do I know if a heat pump is right for my home?
It depends on your insulation, size and ductwork. We offer ductless mini-splits and central heat pump systems, so Ari will look at your layout and goals and recommend a mini-split, a central system or a hybrid setup, whichever is the most cost-effective and comfortable.
